The somewhat partially constructed, but unmanned, information desk at Bratislava's main bus terminal was not a great start but Bratislava picked up plenty of points later on.
My digs are a cheap and cheerful hostel - more of a two star hotel - and again, going a little downmarket is paying off with great info, city tips and a little translation work. Thanks Martin! You'd make a great fixer.
Most of Saturday was consumed with organising transport, sorting out what's needed for the High Tatras part of the trip, finding a good SIM card and getting to know the city a bit better. A public holiday with Constitution Day slowed things down a little.
The old city is great for a stroll. Oodles of cafes and bars. Bumped into a couple of stag night groups - some more like the barmy army than others. But forget the torturous tourist masses of say Prague in the height of summer, Bratislava is a great walking capital.
